Sources and method
Where the numbers come from
- OpenStreetMap and other open-data communities: maps and mapped local facilities.
- World Bank, IMF, United Nations agencies and research datasets: national and subnational comparisons.
- Pakistan Bureau of Statistics and other public bodies: census, prices, trade and administrative records.
- PakBus GTFS feed: bus, metro and train routes, stops, fares and first-stop departure times for covered cities.
- Sector regulators and independent datasets: energy, technology, health, education and society.
How we handle the data
- We keep sources separate. Conflicting figures can coexist when their definition, geography and date are clearly labelled.
- OpenStreetMap counts measure mapped features inside the displayed extent. They are not adjusted for incomplete mapping or current operating status.
- We round numbers for display and link to the underlying publisher wherever possible.
- Pakistan's fiscal year runs from 1 July to 30 June. FY2025 means July 2024 to June 2025.
- Year on year means compared with the same month one year earlier.
- When a source changes a number, we update the page and note the date.
- Transit route counts refer to the captured catalog. They do not measure trips, ridership or current vehicle service.
