Up 1.9 points from 9.2% in July 2026

Pakistan’s headline inflation rate is the year-on-year change in the national consumer price index, or CPI. The figure and chart above update from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics monthly price review.
What the number means
The consumer price index tracks the prices of the goods and services a typical household buys. It covers food, rent, electricity, gas, fuel, clothes, transport, health and education. Year on year means the price level in one month compared with the same month a year earlier. So 11.1% means that what cost 100 rupees in August 2025 cost about 111 rupees in August 2026.
How to read the chart
Each point compares prices with the same month one year earlier. This avoids confusing normal seasonal changes with a lasting rise in the price level. The latest month is also compared with the previous month above the chart.
When this page updates
PBS normally publishes its monthly price review at the start of the following month. PakStats checks for that release every day, validates the period and the headline national CPI figures, then adds the new point. If PBS restates the immediately preceding month, the stored point is revised to match the new release.
The automated update deliberately uses only the official national CPI summary. It does not infer missing months or combine the CPI with the weekly Sensitive Price Indicator.
